I have over 15 years professional experience, extensive behavioral training and skills, and am fully insured and certified in Pet First Aid/CPR from the American Red Cross. For me, my work is my passion. I love what I do and put my heart and soul into it. I've been told by my clients that I "am the most dependable person they know", "how much their pets adore me", and that they consider me part of their family. .

Helping dogs and their humans live their best lives

I have been a professional dog trainer in NYC for 15 years. As a child, I participated in dog agility and showmanship through 4-H and won several local and state competitions. I began my path to become a trainer by receiving a certification from the vocational school, Animal Behavioral College. When I began to hit a wall in my self-education four years ago, I enrolled in CUNY's Psychology program, and will be graduating May, 2025 with honors with an interdisciplinary BA in Animal Psychology and Creative Writing. I am currently volunteering as a Research Assistant for the Center for Canine Behavioral Studies, as well as assisting in a lab at Hunter studying Pandas. I am also a PPG member.

Hello, I'm Lisa, a CPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainer). I worked for a decade in humane societies. I train via my own business. In the past, I've worked as a trainer at Wag Hotel (classes), Zoom Room (classes and private training) and most recently Peninsula Humane Society (classes and behavior consults). I use positive methods. Truth is I love dogs! Big, small, furry, bald, stinky or clean I love them all. I will cherish each as my own. I am just staring out and would love to start by walking them, then possible dog sitting in my home. I have owned a bulldog, and cocker spaniel in my life so far. I am pet free at the current time. Learning is FUN! I am a certified dog behavior consultant and certified dog trainer in obedeince, nosework and tricks. I am also a Service Dog Coach. I believe in science-based and positive reward-based training methods that create a fun learning environment for both humans and dogs. When you are having fun, whatever you do becomes rewarding and makes you want to do more of it. Through fun learning experiences, desirable behaviors are retained and repeated. My specialty is in working with anxious, fear-aggressive dogs and dogs with reactivity issuees. K9 Learning is based in Novato, CA and currently offers both in-person (in Marin) and virtual training (outside of Marin) sessions.
