In 2022, I started this company to help heal the void I had in my heart after losing my precious fur baby Mia. At that time I was not ready to bring another dog into my life and caring for animals has really helped fill that empty space in my heart. Seeing my furry friend clients happy brings me so much joy and this truly is my passion. I know what it’s like to worry about your pet when you can’t be with them and I want to provide a peace of mind with responsible and loving care for your pet while you are away from them,.

Modern Hound is owned and operated by Shoshi Parks, Ph.D., CPDT-ka, CSAT. Shoshi is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT). She completed the San Francisco SPCA's Dog Training Internship Program and Public Teaching Internship and is certified by the Canine Behavior Academy of the Marin Humane Society. In addition to her private dog training, Shoshi taught for several years at the San Francisco SPCA and continues to teach at other locations around the city. Shoshi also works with high-risk dogs adopted from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.

Hello! My name is Jennie and I've been walking dogs in San Francisco for over 15 years. I take groups for one hour off leash walks in our beautiful parks. General training and good manners are reinforced with positive training techniques. I have assisted in training classes and puppy socials and worked at a dog day care. My name is Rachel Reeder and I'm a dog walker, boarder, sitter, and lover based in San Francisco, CA. I've combined by lifelong love for dogs and nature into 1 job. I'm a Certified Dog Walker and CPR & First Aid Certified through TopDogSF. When working with dogs, I use evidence-based force-free methods based on positive reinforcement. I bring fun, compassion, patience, and safety to every interaction I have with your pet! In addition to walks and boarding, I assist dog training classes with Aimee Porter, prominent San Francisco positive reinforcement dog trainer. I specialize in small breeds only! I am insured and my home has been inspected to foster by the ASPCA. That being said we provide a loving home environment for your family member. I have cared for many seniors and have extensive experience with special needs dogs. I provide enrichment activities such as snuffle mats, lick mats, frozen healthy treats, a tunnel, and backyard jumps. We are kennel free. I provide boarding and daycare and have about 100 repeat clients! So we have different dogs coming and going daily, although I keep the number of pups at 5. Dogs in my care must be social with other dogs and cannot have separation anxiety or obsessive behaviors.

I offer dog walking, dog sitting, exotic pet sitting, and cat sitting in your home! I have great references and am in the process of becoming insured/bonded.

I grew up living with and loving dogs. When my kids were young I hired dog walkers and was always curious about the job. In 2013, we got our dog Lily and I became and licensed dog walker and started A Walk in the Park. Since then I've done group walks at Fort Funston, Bernal Hill, Stern Grove and McLaren Park. I also do doggie daycare and boarding in my home in Noe Valley. I love spending my days outside with dogs and feel very grateful to do this work.
