The Life of Kai is a 501-c3. Our vision is to have fewer displaced dogs in the shelters and more pets in the homes. We hope to reach our goal through several programs. Humane education teaches empathy to build a kinder and compassionate generation. Training and dog behavior books based on science are available to the public with free and easy access. Coaching new adopters and guardians and teaching pet dogs to co-exist through better understanding of canine behaviors. Working pro-bono with rescues and fosters to make rescued dogs more adoptable and supporting a foster-centric community by creating a foster registry.

Cheryl specializes in successful puppy raising, but also helps guardians with other dog behavior challenges. She offers in-person and virtual private sessions as well as small group classes and Puppy Day School. Cheryl attended the Academy for Dog Trainers in 2002 and have been professionally teaching dogs and their humans ever since.

Polite Pooches offers group classes and private training sessions utilizing positive reinforcement, force free methods only. We offer puppy classes through advanced manners. All private sessions & group classes are held at our safe, quiet, clean training center in Forest Hill, MD. All of our trainers have achieved at least their CPDT-KA certification. We teach using humane methods, and go at a pace each dog is comfortable with.

As a dog trainer, Lauren is passionate about demystifying canine behavior and making training fun! She believes that understanding and appreciating how dogs communicate with us is paramount to creating strong dog-human bonds and happy homes. Lauren specializes in working with reactive dogs and their humans. She also offers private training, training walks, and solo enrichment walks. Dog Grrl was started in 1997 by owner and operator Jenny Test. Dog Grrl thrived and grew into a doggie daycare space in San Francisco that offered small dog daycare, puppy socials with classes with Smarty Pup and a BnB style boarding facility in Healdsburg California. As the business grew so did the desire to help dogs overcome their fears and anxieties so Jenny went to the Academy for Dog Trainers offered at the SPCA and taught by Jean Donaldson.
